Similar to English language, Bengali language also consists of vowels and consonants. There are 11 vowels and 35 consonants in Bengali alphabet.

Bengali Vowels

In Bengali, vowels are known as স্বরবর্ণ (Sbarabarna). There are two types of vowels; dependent vowels and independent vowels. Dependent vowels are always used together with a consonant.

Independent vowels

Bengali Numerals

Bengali numerals follow the base-10 number system, also known as decimal number system. It is the most commonly used number system in daily life. The following table shows the 10 Bengali numbers and their English equivalents.
